About the role

The Role

Be the voice of LekeeLekee on every social network, every day. You join the conversations Nigerians are already having, quickly and in a voice people recognise, and you look after the people who talk to us.

You work alongside our Lagos content unit, who make our video and images, and the teams who launch and promote our products.

Reports to the founder. The work is on the outside networks: support and moderation inside LekeeLekee stay with the Support, Moderation and Engagement team.

What You Will Do

1. Be present. Reply, comment and post across X, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Threads and WhatsApp, every day. 2. Move with the moment. Spot what Nigeria is talking about and get LekeeLekee into it with something useful or funny. 3. Look after our own accounts. Answer comments, mentions and direct messages promptly, on a rota you help to set. 4. Keep our accounts alive between the planned pieces with posts of your own. 5. Back up the content unit. Keep the conversation going on their pieces once they are published. 6. Support product launches and company news. 7. Bring people to LekeeLekee, and show what worked. 8. Pass on what you hear. Send product complaints to support the same day, and tell the content unit what the audience is responding to. 9. Keep us out of trouble. No party politics, no tribe, no religion, no arguments with members of the public. Anything sensitive gets a second pair of eyes before it goes out.

Your First 90 Days

Day 30: you run our day to day presence on social media on your own, and every comment on our accounts is answered. Day 60: a steady daily output the team can rely on, and visits from social media to LekeeLekee are rising. Day 90: followers and visits from social media have grown on every network, you have a written guide to the LekeeLekee voice, and you are ready to bring in a second person.

About Lekeelekee

LekeeLekee is a digital community and content platform built for Africans at home and across the world, a space where culture, conversation, news and identity come together. Developed in partnership with ARISE Broadcast and THISDAY Media Group, we are focused on Nigeria and its diaspora, with a strong UK presence, and expanding across the continent and into African communities globally.

Why Join

  • The voice is yours to set. There is no house style to inherit.
  • Reach from day one. ARISE News and THISDAY sit behind the platform, and their audiences already know the group.
  • A content unit beside you. Journalists, an editor and booked talent supply you with video and images every day.
  • Clear goals and the freedom to hit them.
  • Competitive salary benchmarked to market, with structure open to discussion for the right candidate.

Location

Lagos, London or remote. In Lagos you sit with the content unit. Wherever you are, the working day follows Lagos time. Social media does not keep office hours: the role includes some evenings and weekends on a shared rota, around football, entertainment and breaking news. LekeeLekee is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds.

Who we are looking for

Experience

  • Typically 2 to 5 years running social media accounts or an online community for a brand, publisher, creator or agency with a Nigerian audience.
  • Accounts you have grown, with the numbers to show for it. This matters more than the CV.
  • You write fast, short and well, in Nigerian English and in Pidgin, and you know which one the moment calls for.
  • You live on X, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Threads, and you know how each one behaves.
  • Deep familiarity with Nigerian news, music, football, comedy and internet culture, at home and in the diaspora.
  • Comfortable with the figures: you check what worked yesterday and change what you do today.
  • Experience handling complaints and difficult people in public, calmly.

Attributes

  • Quick. You see the conversation before it peaks.
  • Funny, without being cruel.
  • Sound judgement. You know what a brand should not say, and you ask when you are not sure.
  • Consistent. As good on a quiet Tuesday as on a big match day.
  • Thick skinned. The replies will not always be kind.
  • Curious about the product. You use LekeeLekee every day and you tell us what is wrong with it.

How To Apply

Show us the work. Send links to accounts you have run and three replies or posts you are proud of, with the numbers they did. Tell us in a few lines what you would do with our accounts in your first month. Then send your CV.
