Content Creator (On-Camera Producer) · 3 openings

Hiring now Lagos, on site Full time Open

About the role

The Role

Three roles. Journalists in front of the camera, each owning one of four pillars day to day and covering the others when needed. Find it, write it, present it, ship it.

You own one pillar: you find the stories, you write the scripts, you present them, and you produce them through the formula with the Content Editor. The three openings cover Politics; Fashion, Lifestyle and Entertainment; and Sports. Miscellaneous and Funny is shared by the whole unit. Over time you become the face of a named series people come back for, and a host on the weekly podcast when it launches. Reports to the Content Creator Coordinator.

What You'll Do

1. Own your pillar. Know what is happening before the audience does. Bring story ideas to the calendar every week with the angle, the format and the platform in mind. 2. Write your own scripts and briefs. Short, tight scripts with the hook in the first line and one idea per piece. 3. Present to camera. To-camera explainers for short form, hosted long-form pieces for LekeeLekee and YouTube, street or location pieces when the story needs them. Comfortable in Nigerian English and Pidgin as the piece demands. 4. Produce your pieces through the formula with the Content Editor, and get the Coordinator's approval before anything is published. 5. Cover the other pillars when the calendar needs it. Everyone contributes to the funny pillar. 6. Publish and engage. Native uploads, captions that earn replies, own the first hour of comments on your pieces. 7. Contribute to the in-house editorial that lives on LekeeLekee itself.

Your First 90 Days

Day 30: pitching into the calendar every week, presenting on every platform, pieces passing the quality gate first time. Day 60: hitting your share of the twenty pieces, your pillar has a named series, you have covered another pillar. Day 90: among the unit's best performers on at least one platform, hosted a long-form piece, ready to co-host the podcast pilot.

About Lekeelekee

LekeeLekee is a digital community and content platform built for Africans at home and across the world, a space where culture, conversation, news and identity come together. Developed in partnership with ARISE Broadcast and THISDAY Media Group, we are focused on Nigeria and its diaspora, with a strong UK presence, and expanding across the continent and into African communities globally.

We are now building an in-house content unit in Lagos to run our external social channels and a share of the editorial on LekeeLekee itself. Five people, four pillars (Politics; Fashion, Lifestyle and Entertainment; Sports; Miscellaneous and Funny), one formula, twenty pieces a week across seven platforms. Everything it makes points back to the platform.

Why Join

  • Build the unit from the start. The calendar, the formula and the look are yours to set, not inherit.
  • Reach that a start-up cannot usually offer. ARISE News and THISDAY sit behind the platform, and the formula you run is designed to run for them too.
  • An audience worth making things for. Nigeria, the UK diaspora and Africans everywhere, with the under-25s next.
  • A clear number and the freedom to hit it. Twenty pieces a week, measured honestly, with room to experiment inside the formula.
  • Competitive salary benchmarked to market, with structure open to discussion for the right candidate.

Location

Based in Lagos, on site with the unit. Hours follow the publishing rhythm, including some evening posting windows shared across the unit. LekeeLekee is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds.

Who we are looking for

Experience

  • Typically 2 to 5 years as a journalist, presenter, reporter or content creator, with published work in your pillar.
  • A reel or profile that shows you presenting short-form vertical video to a real audience. This matters more than the CV.
  • You write fast and clean: scripts, captions and briefs that need one edit, not three.
  • Genuine depth in your pillar: the people, the history, the running arguments.
  • Fluent in how TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, X, Facebook and Snapchat each behave.
  • Comfortable being filmed several times a week and turning a piece round the same day.

Attributes

  • Curious and quick. You see the angle before it is obvious.
  • A presence. People stop scrolling when you start talking.
  • Accurate. You check facts, credit sources and know a take from a claim.
  • Coachable and consistent.
  • Funny when it counts.
  • Culturally fluent. Nigeria at home and in the diaspora, in English and in Pidgin.

How To Apply

Send us your reel before your CV: three pieces you presented, under a minute each, and the numbers they did. Add a short note on which pillar you would own first and why.
