Following a news conference in Lagos on Sunday, 15th March 2026, the Public Relations Officer of the Amalgamated Union of App-Based Transporters of Nigeria (AUATON), Steven Iwindoye, announced a three-day strike in Lagos which began from 16th to 18th March.

This strike follows concerns raised by App-Based drivers over poor working conditions and rising operational costs on platforms such as Uber, inDrive, and Lagride.This demand calls for urgent reforms within the industry so as to reflect the economic realities.

Reports indicate that Uber and other platforms have not immediately met these demands and have continued operations.

The Amalgamated Union of App-Based Transporters of Nigeria (AUATON) is a registered trade union in Nigeria with the objective of supporting and defending the overall interest of its members within the online subsector of the transportation industry in Nigeria.
