In Okposi in Ohaozara, if a green snake enters your room, you just leave it alone.

Okposi people call it Aka, and you'll see it everywhere, in rooms, in compounds, even inside church while service is going on. It won't harm you, and you dare not harm it either. Even if you hurt it by mistake and it dies, you have to bury it like a human being.

One Okposi man told me that every time he goes home to the village, Aka crosses his path. He's a Christian ooo, he doesn't serve any deity, but he says Aka isn't there to trouble him. Aka is just welcoming him home.
