Subject: Demand for Accountability Over Electricity Revenue and Nigerians' Hardship
Your Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governors in the 36 states 774 LGA
Nigeria's electricity distribution companies reportedly collected N220.93 billion from customers in August 2026 alone, yet millions of Nigerians continue to experience darkness, hunger, poverty, unemployment, and severe economic hardship. 240 million Nigerians pay electricity bills and taxes without receiving reliable power or other essential services for decades
Nigerians deserve clear answers:
How was the electricity revenue collected from customers used?
Why does electricity remain unreliable and unaffordable?
What is the government doing to reduce hunger and create sustainable employment?
When will Nigerians see reliable power, affordable internet access, better roads, healthcare, education, and housing?
What mechanisms ensure that public revenue is not lost through corruption, waste, or inflated contracts?
Respectfully sirs/madams we demand your administration to publish independently on the global internet audited accounts showing how electricity-sector and other public revenues are collected and spent. Anyone found to have stolen public funds should be investigated through due process, prosecuted where evidence supports the allegation, and required by the courts to return the money.
Respectfully we also demand on you and other senior public officials to reduce salaries and allowances while Nigerians endure hardship. The savings should support transparent programmes for electricity, food security, jobs, healthcare, education, and targeted internet access for low-income households.
Nigeria's estimated population of about 240 million is its total population, not necessarily the number of electricity customers or taxpayers. Nevertheless, every Nigerian has the right to demand accountable leadership, honest spending, and measurable improvements in living conditions.
Please with all due respect sirs/madams provide a public, evidence-based explanation of where these revenues go and a time-bound plan for delivering reliable essential services to 240 million Nigerians now 11/1/2026
