According to Afrobarometer survey data, approximately 80% of Nigerians believe the country needs a change in governance, while about 20% hold a different view. Within the minority group, some are perceived to support the current administration due to political patronage or personal interests, while others are direct beneficiaries of government policies and programmes. The widespread demand for change is largely driven by ongoing socioeconomic and governance challenges, including economic hardship, persistent power shortages, rising petrol prices, high inflation, insecurity, increasing public debt, unemployment, and the declining cost of living. These issues have significantly affected the daily lives of many Nigerians, leading to growing public dissatisfaction and calls for reforms aimed at improving governance, economic stability, and national security. As a result, a large segment of the population is seeking leadership and policy changes that they believe can address these challenges and create a more prosperous future for the country.
