Welcome to the month of November.
Let's make it a habit to thank God this month.
Thanksgiving: The Key That Moves the Hand of God
Gratitude Provokes Greater Works
Text: John 6:11, “And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples…”
Introduction
Many of us come to God only with requests. Scripture shows that thanksgiving is also a form of prayer, and it often opens the door to more than asking does. Thanksgiving doesn’t make God need anything. It positions our hearts to receive more.
1. Thanksgiving Turns Little into Much
John 6:9–13
Five loaves and two fish were not enough, but Jesus gave thanks over what He had before the multiplication. The miracle followed the thanks. If you thank God only for what is abundant, you may never see Him multiply what is small. Thank Him for your little.
2. Thanksgiving Brings Victory Before the Battle Is Won
2 Chronicles 20:21–22
Jehoshaphat put singers in front of the army, and “when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushes.” God moved at the beginning of the praise, not after the victory. Thanksgiving is faith spoken aloud.
3. Thanksgiving Opens Doors That Complaint Keeps Shut
Acts 16:25–26
Paul and Silas were beaten and chained in prison, yet at midnight they prayed and sang. Suddenly the foundations shook and the doors opened. Complaining keeps us in the prison of our situation, while thanksgiving shakes its foundations.
4. Thanksgiving Receives the Fuller Blessing
Luke 17:11–19
Ten lepers were cleansed, but only one came back to give thanks. Jesus told him, “Thy faith hath made thee whole.” The other nine were healed, but the one who returned received wholeness. Thanksgiving takes us from receiving a gift to knowing the Giver.
5. Thanksgiving Honors God and Prepares His Salvation
Psalm 50:23
“Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.” Thanksgiving glorifies God, and where He is glorified, He shows Himself strong.
Application
• Thank Him in advance for what He has promised (Philippians 4:6).
• Thank Him in the middle of the trial (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
• Go back and thank Him for what He has already done, like the one leper.
Conclusively,
Gratitude is not a reaction to blessing alone; it is an invitation for more.
Happy new month
