With no husband to support her, Mama Idara worked from morning until night at her little provision stall.
Some days, she sold almost nothing.
Other days, she skipped meals so Idara could eat.
One evening, Idara found her mother counting a few notes in silence.
“Mummy, are you hungry?” she asked.
Mama Idara smiled and shook her head, hiding her pain.
