YOUR VOTE IS YOUR POWER. STOP SELLING YOUR DIGNITY FOR TEMPORARY SURVIVAL!
1st November 2026
Someone seeking your vote must also be willing to seek your opinion. Leadership is not about appearing every four years to ask for votes; it is about being available, accountable, and accessible throughout the four years.
The people are more powerful than the people in power when they understand how to use their democratic power.
Ask yourself some uncomfortable questions: Why is it that every four years, certain people who suddenly remember that they are politicians become visible? They start calling your phone, visiting your homes, attending village meetings, making promises, and pretending to care about your welfare.
But where were they when you needed them? Where were they after assuming office? Why did they suddenly become too busy to answer your calls, listen to your complaints, or attend to the needs of the people they represent?
Suddenly, election season arrives, and everybody becomes your brother, sister, friend, and political associate!
Let us talk about the ₦30,000 handout.
If someone gives you ₦30,000 as a temporary political favour, and you spend the next 30 days using your own money to buy data, pay transportation and finance activities to sing their praises, defend their failures and promote their political interests, what exactly have you gained?
You are struggling with transportation fares, food prices, electricity bills, school fees and other daily responsibilities, yet you are using your limited resources to protect the comfort of people who may not even answer your calls after the election.
How long will we continue this cycle?
A politician should not become your employer simply because you collected a little assistance. A temporary handout should never purchase your conscience, silence your questions, or take ownership of your PVC.
THE REALITY WE MUST UNDERSTAND:
* Your vote is not a gift to any politician; it is your constitutional right.
* Your elected representative owes the people accountability, not occasional generosity.
* Political support must not replace critical thinking.
* Ask questions before elections, during elections, and after elections.
* Never confuse a politician's temporary generosity with four years of responsible representation.
The next time someone comes seeking your vote, ask them what they have done, what they intend to do, and how they will be held accountable.
Don't be intimidated by political titles, convoys, money, or empty promises.
You are not a political slave. You are a citizen with a voice, a right, and a vote.
The people must understand that democracy does not end on election day. That is where the people's responsibility to demand accountability becomes even more important.
YOUR POWER IS IN YOUR VOTE. YOUR DIGNITY IS NOT FOR SALE. YOUR OPINION MUST COUNT!
