*DAY 1 — THE FEAR OF THE LORD*

*Scripture*

Proverbs 9:10 (KJV)

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.”

*Message*

The fear of the Lord is a deep reverence, honour, and respect for God that influences how we live. It is not the fear of punishment alone but a sincere desire to please God, obey His Word, and avoid anything that dishonours Him.

A person who fears God does not take His instructions lightly. Such a person understands that God sees beyond outward appearances and examines the heart. The fear of the Lord influences our decisions, relationships, conversations, and private conduct.

Proverbs 8:13 teaches that the fear of the Lord is to hate evil. Therefore, we cannot claim to honour God while deliberately embracing sin, dishonesty, pride, or injustice. True reverence for God produces obedience, humility, integrity, and holiness.

Joseph demonstrated the fear of God when he refused to commit adultery with Potiphar's wife, declaring, “How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” (Genesis 39:9). He chose to honour God even when nobody else might have known.

The fear of the Lord also gives us wisdom to make godly decisions. When we recognise God's authority, we become careful about the choices we make and the influence we allow into our lives.

Today, examine your heart. Do your decisions demonstrate reverence for God? Do you honour Him when nobody is watching? Remember, the fear of the Lord is not merely something we profess; it must be evident in the way we live.

*JPHM Declaration*

I walk in the fear and reverence of the Lord. My heart is committed to pleasing God in my thoughts, words, and actions. I reject evil, embrace righteousness, and obey His Word. I receive divine wisdom and understanding to make godly decisions. My life will honour God in public and in private. In Jesus' name, Amen.

*Prayer*

Heavenly Father, give me a heart that truly reverences You. Help me to hate evil, love righteousness, and obey Your Word. Deliver me from pride, compromise, and every attitude that dishonours Your name. Let the fear of the Lord guide my decisions and relationships. May my life continually bring pleasure and glory to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

*Daily Challenge*

Read Proverbs 8:13 and Genesis 39:7–12. Identify one area where you need to demonstrate greater reverence for God. Make a conscious decision today to honour Him, even when doing so is difficult or unpopular.

Remember: The fear of the Lord is not just about what you avoid; it is about living every day with a heart that desires to please God.
