FINDING YOURSELF — PART 1:
WHO ARE YOU WITHOUT YOUR TITLES?

If tomorrow you lost your job, your position, your money, your influence and everything people currently admire about you, who would you be?

It is a question many people are afraid to answer.

We live in a world where people introduce themselves by what they have achieved rather than who they have become.

"I'm a doctor."
"I'm a pastor."
"I'm a CEO."
"I'm an entrepreneur."
"I'm a graduate."

Wonderful!

But those are descriptions of your work, position or achievements. They are not the total definition of who you are.

The danger of building your identity around your position is that when the position changes, you begin to feel that your life has lost its meaning.

"You are more than what you do. You are more than what you own. You are more than what people call you."

Your identity is rooted in your values, convictions, character, uniqueness and the purpose for which God created you.

This is why some people are successful but deeply unfulfilled. They have spent years building a career without building themselves.

They have mastered their profession but have never understood their person.

They know how to make money but don't know what gives their lives meaning.

"Don't become so busy making a living that you forget to discover the person doing the living."

Your achievements should express who you are, not replace who you are.

Today, I want you to ask yourself three questions:

1. Who am I when nobody is watching?
2. What values define me when there is nothing to gain?
3. If everything I have achieved were taken away, what would remain of me?

Your answers may reveal how much of yourself you have truly discovered.

"Remember: You are a person before you are a professional. Discover the person, and you will give greater meaning to the profession."
