THE MESSAGE FROM A DEAD WOMAN
At exactly 12:03 a.m., Amara received a WhatsApp message from her mother, who had been buried three months earlier.
“My daughter, don't open the door for your husband tonight.”
Her hands trembled. She stared at the message, wondering who could be playing such a cruel joke.
Then another message arrived.
“Amara, he knows you discovered the truth.”
Suddenly, she heard her husband's footsteps approaching their bedroom.
He stopped outside the door.
“Baby, open up,” he said gently.
Amara remained silent.
His voice changed.
“Amara, I know you're awake. Open this door before I lose my patience.”
Her phone vibrated again.
“Hide under the bed. Whatever you hear, don't come out until morning.”
Terrified, Amara slipped under the bed just as the bedroom door opened.
She heard her husband enter, followed by another person.
Then a woman's voice whispered, “Are you sure she hasn't seen the documents?”
Her husband chuckled.
“Even if she has, she won't live long enough to tell anyone.”
Amara covered her mouth to silence her sobs.
Then her phone lit up with one final message from her mother's number.
“My daughter, the woman standing beside your husband is your elder sister. The same sister we buried five years ago.”
Amara slowly raised her eyes towards the space beneath the bed.
Two pairs of feet stood directly in front of her.
But one pair wasn't touching the floor.
THE END… OR SHOULD WE CONTINUE? 🤷♀️🌑
