ARISE NEWS STANDS BY OUR REPORT ON INEC REGISTER IN LAGOS

On Thursday, What’s Trending with Ojy Okpe reported that the INEC Preliminary Register of Voters was not openly displayed for public scrutiny at several registration areas across Alimosho and Shomolu in Lagos as required by Section 19 of the Electoral Act.

INEC Lagos State issued a press statement categorically denying our report. We take note and we respect the commission’s right to respond, but we stand by our report.

Here is what our independent on-ground verification found:

📍 The INEC portal on Wednesday October 14th displayed this message:

“There are currently no preliminary registers to display”

📍 At registration areas in Alimosho including Abati Primary School the register was only available on request between 9AM and 3PM

📍 At Gbagada Grammar School, Pedro Primary School In Shomolu and St George’s Primary School in Ikoyi officials only consulted the register for individual name checks not open public scrutiny.

Every Nigerian deserves full and open access to the voters’ register not access by request access by right!
