I am disappointed by how rigidly Nigerians approach party affiliation while politicians themselves are flexible enough to form rainbow coalitions whenever interests align. We have tried voting top to bottom, and we have seen the consequences. Perhaps it is time to change the approach. Vote individuals, not just parties. Reward performance, not loyalty.
If politicians can cross party lines in pursuit of their interests, why must voters remain trapped by party colours? A party should be a vehicle for governance, not a lifetime claim on your vote. Let capacity, integrity and proven service determine who earns your trust.
