In Nigeria, a name is rarely just a name. It is a small history book, written the day a child arrives.

Babatunde, father has returned. Chukwuemeka, God has done something great. Danjuma, a son born on a Friday. Each one tells you who had died, who was longed for, and when. Lose the name and you lose the story it was carrying.

So on Legacify Family Tree, a person keeps every name they answered to. Praise names, English names and every spelling in between.

Ask an elder what your name means and who it was remembering. Then write it down.
