DISTINGUISHED BY OFFERING
Genesis 25:23,28 KJV
[23] And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger. [28] And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.
I have heard so many times when people speak out of ignorance and no biblical backing to claim that you do not need to do anything in order to please God. There is no part of the Bible that supports this. Even after the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross of Calvary, you will need to believe in Him to access the benefit of the price paid. The price was paid for all but the benefit is not for all except those who accept Jesus as their saviour (John 3:16). After doing this, you are to walk righteously in Christ in order to become a vessel of gold, silver and many others which is a function of what you do and how obedient you are to God's instructions (2 Timothy 2:20-21).
However, the Bible says that God rejected Esau but accepted Jacob.
Romans 9:13 KJV
As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. The truth from this scripture shows how Esau did well by always preparing venison for the father but was not rich towards God.
Luke 12:20-21 KJV
But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? [21] So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
He had a good record with his father but did not have anything to offer unto God. Dont quickly jump to conclusions to think that it is about money or food. This is about passion for the things of the spirit. The Bible makes us understand that Esau was a profane person which means to take lightly and with levity the things of the spirit.
Hebrews 12:16 KJV
Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.
The passage is talking about not being serious with the things of the spirit. On the other hand it means Jacob was someone who valued and took seriously the things of the spirit. When Jacob was willing to die for the opportunity for the mandate of the covenant, Esau valued his life more than that. Jacob was passionate to carry the mandate of the lineage of God but Esau was unwilling. He offered what a man needs to his father but lacked what the Spirit needed as an offering to God. Beloved, God is not wicked. Where is your offering channeled towards, is it to God or to man? If you know that God is important to where you are hoping and looking forward to for a great destiny, you must therefore be ready to make God the focus of your offering because that is where you can gain access to generational blessings. Be rich towards God more than towards men.
Daily Task
Mention five ways to value spiritual offering more than offering to man.
Prayers
1. Lord, I receive grace to offer worthy sacrifice towards Your will.
2. Father, I receive grace to love you more.
