🚨JUST IN: “I’m In Charge Of Coordinating Elections In FCT And Rivers State, And I’ve Removed Every Obstacle” — WIKE Boast
NIGERIANS ARE ASKING QUESTIONS!
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that he will coordinate President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign in the FCT and Rivers State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, Wike described himself as the commander of field operations in the FCT and said the necessary obstacles to the campaign had been removed.
But his statement has raised a question many Nigerians may want answered:
WHAT EXACTLY DOES “I’M IN CHARGE OF THE ELECTION” MEAN?
Let’s be clear: coordinating a political campaign is not the same as conducting an election.
INEC is Nigeria’s electoral commission, and the authority to conduct elections rests within the legal electoral framework—not with an individual politician or campaign coordinator.
So, when a powerful political figure speaks with such confidence about coordinating campaigns in two important locations and removing every obstacle, Nigerians have every reason to ask for clarity.
Who is responsible for conducting the election? Who safeguards the process? And what assurances can voters have that every eligible vote will count?
Wike has every right to mobilize political support for his preferred candidate. Other political parties have the same right to campaign and persuade voters.
BUT COME 2027, THE DECISION BELONGS TO THE NIGERIAN ELECTORATE.
No politician can substitute campaign confidence for the voters’ actual choices. The real test will be whether the electoral process is transparent, credible and respectful of the people’s votes.
NOW, LET’S TALK!
Do you think Wike’s statement is simply about political campaign mobilisation, or do you believe it raises legitimate questions about public confidence in the 2027 elections?
