Nigeria Wants to Stop Depending on Imported Cars.
The National Assembly has said it wants to fast-track a new law that will help to revive Nigeria’s automotive industry and reducing our dependence on imported vehicles.
I think we’re waking up but let’s see how soon that would be because the bill in’s not yet law. Even when it becomes law, will it be acted upon?
According to a report, Nigeria spent ₦6.54 trillion on transport equipment and auto parts between 2023 and 2025, with over ₦4.3 trillion spent on vehicle imports alone.
In simple terms, a huge amount of money that could support businesses and industries within Nigeria is going abroad to pay for vehicles and their parts.
Omoooo we are cooked in the country if we don’t start acting fast.
The proposed law is expected to encourage local vehicle production, protect car manufacturers, attract investors and create more jobs for Nigerians.
And for the average Nigerian, this could mean more employment opportunities, increased demand for local products and, potentially, more affordable vehicles in the future.
These are the benefits we should have on a normal day as Nigerians but we’ve been obsessed with doing giveaways to people who don’t really care.
Another question is, will Nigerians buy a Nigerian made car????????
