MOMS’ FIRST AID GUIDE FOR KIDS UNDER 10 🩹

Kids get hurt fast. Knowing what to do in the first few minutes matters most. Here’s the quick guide:

🚨 1. If a Child Is Unresponsive / Not Breathing
Tap shoulder + shout “Are you okay?”
Call emergency services NOW
Start CPR: 30 chest pushes with 1-2 hands, center of chest, 2 inches deep → 2 breaths → repeat
Under 1yr: Use 2 fingers, 1.5 inches deep, gentle puffs

😮‍💨 2. Choking
Under 1yr: 5 back blows + 5 chest thrusts. No Heimlich.
Over 1yr: 5 back blows + 5 Heimlich thrusts
If they pass out → Start CPR + call ambulance

Prevention: Cut food <½ inch for kids under 4. No nuts, whole grapes, popcorn, balloons, coins, button batteries.

🩸 3. Cuts & Scrapes
Wash hands → Rinse wound → Press to stop bleeding → Clean → Cover with bandage
See doctor if: Deep, won’t stop bleeding, dirty/rusty object, or signs of infection

🔥 4. Burns
Cool with running water for 10-15 min. No ice/butter. Cover with clean cloth.
ER if: Face/hands/genitals, deep, or chemical/electric burn

🌡️ 5. Fever Meds
NEVER aspirin.
Paracetamol: 10-15mg/kg every 4-6hrs. Max 4x/day
Ibuprofen: 5-10mg/kg every 6-8hrs with food. Only 6+ months
Under 3 months with fever ≥ 38°C = ER immediately

👃 6. Nosebleed
Sit up, lean forward, pinch the soft part of the nose for 10 min. Don’t tilt the head back.

🧠 7. Head Bumps
Cold compress for bruise. Go to ER if: Passed out, vomiting, very sleepy, acting strange

✅ MOM’S FIRST AID KIT
Bandages, antiseptic wipes, sterile gauze, thermometer, paracetamol/ibuprofen, your child’s EpiPen if prescribed

Final Tip: Your calm = their calm. When in doubt, call emergency services. They’ll guide you.

Take a CPR class when you can — it saves lives ❤️

Not medical advice. For emergencies, call your local emergency number.
