3 John 1:2
“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”

The word “wish” here is translated from the Greek word euchomai. It carries the idea of prayer, petition, or earnest desire expressed to God.

Apostle John was expressing his earnest prayer for Elder Gaius—that he would prosper and be in health, just as his soul was prospering.

Notice that good health was part of the prayer.

John was praying for the wholeness and proper functioning of Gaius’ physical body: freedom from sickness, disease, weakness, and bodily dysfunction.

This is a good prayer to pray for your pastor today:

“May your health remain sound. May no sickness or disease prevail against your body.”

Pray it for your spouse. Pray it for fellow believers. Pray it for your ministry partners and church leaders.

It is Christian to pray for the health and well-being of other believers.

Christianity is apostolic.

We therefore have biblical precedent for praying that believers walk in health.

Today, take time to pray for the believers around you. Pray for your pastors and leaders, your spouse, your ministry partners, and other members of the Body of Christ.

I am in sound health.
I walk in health.
No part of my body is missing, damaged, sick, or disabled.
