“I CRIED OUT TO JESUS” — THE VOICE CONTESTANT SAYS COCAINE NEARLY DESTROYED HIS LIFE

Jack Cassidy, grandson of actress Shirley Jones, was only 17 when he competed on The Voice. He reached the Top 12, but after leaving the competition, Cassidy says disappointment and depression helped send his life in a destructive direction.

Cassidy says he began attending parties and eventually tried cocaine. What started as experimentation became an addiction that, according to his testimony, consumed his money, damaged his relationships and eventually led him to steal to obtain drugs. He says the addiction continued for roughly a year and a half.

Then came one terrifying night.

Cassidy says he took an unusually strong amount of cocaine and suddenly felt his body becoming cold and his heart pounding uncontrollably. Alone and afraid that his body was shutting down, he remembered the faith he had previously professed—and fell to his knees.

He says he cried out to Jesus and begged God to let him live.

Cassidy describes what followed as a profound spiritual encounter. Although his account cannot independently establish what medically occurred that night, he says he experienced an overwhelming sense of God's presence and peace amid the crisis.

For Cassidy, that night exposed what the addiction was doing to him.

He came to believe that cocaine wasn't rescuing him from his pain—it was leading him toward destruction. He says the experience rebuilt his trust in God and showed him that Jesus could meet him even at his lowest point.

His testimony carries a powerful message:

Rock bottom doesn't have to become the end of your story.

Sometimes the place where everything appears lost becomes the place where someone finally cries:
