AJEDE DISTRIBUTES PALLIATIVES TO AMAI FLOOD VICTIMS, PROMISES ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SENSITISATION

The Executive Chairman of Ukwuani Local Government Area, Hon. Possible Solomon Ajede (PhD), has distributed palliatives to victims of the recent natural disaster in Amai Kingdom as part of efforts to support residents affected by the incident.

During the visit, the Council Chairman sensitised the people on the importance of proper waste management and urged residents to desist from dumping refuse in waterways or constructing houses along canals and natural water channels, noting that such practices can aggravate flooding and other environmental hazards.

Hon. Ajede further assured the people that the Department of Environmental Health would shortly commence a comprehensive sensitisation exercise across Ukwuani LGA.
According to him, the initiative is aimed at educating residents on proper environmental practices and helping to prevent or reduce the occurrence of similar disasters in the future.

He called on residents to cooperate with the council and environmental health officials, stressing that protecting the environment is a collective responsibility.

The two Councillors representing the people of Amai were present to receive the Council Chairman and his entourage, while expressing their appreciation for the council's intervention and support to the affected residents.

Among the dignitaries who accompanied the Chairman were the Vice Chairman of Council, Hon. Nkechi Echigbue; Secretary to the Local Government, Mr. Chukwunonazu Osundu; Deputy Leader of the Legislative House, Rt. Hon. Frank Enefazu; Party Chairman, Hon. Solomon Osakwe; Ogbuefi Atua Dafi; and other government officials and stakeholders.
