People don't relate to you as you are. They relate to you based on their perception of who you are.
When you meet someone new, your mind immediately goes to work, evaluating them through the lens of the data stored in your memory.
If you perceive a person as a threat based on past feelings or subtle cues, your nervous system kicks in: you either fight, flee, or freeze.
Ultimately, your reactions to others are driven entirely by your interpretation of them, not objective reality.
This brings us to a powerful question to ask yourself the next time you connect with someone:
How do I actually see the person in front of me?
Do I see them as a separate entity to guard against, or as inherently connected to me?
We have the power to choose how we perceive the people around us. And that choice entirely changes how we lead, collaborate, and connect.
What lens are you choosing to look through today? 👇
