THE BENEFITS OF EGG
Hello family. In my first post, I shared that this week is about encouraging each other to eat healthy. So, let us begin with one of the simplest and most affordable foods on our table: the egg.
What is an egg?
An egg is a nutrient rich food laid by hens. It consists mainly of a protective shell, egg white, and yolk, with the white and yolk providing different nutrients.
Why is it important in your diet?
Eggs provide high quality protein and contain all nine essential amino acids that our bodies cannot make on their own. Protein is important for building and maintaining muscles, repairing tissues, and supporting many functions in the body.
One large egg provides approximately 6 grams of protein and also contains important nutrients such as choline, vitamin B12, and vitamin D. It provides around 70 to 80 calories, depending on its size.
How should you eat it?
Boiling is one of the simplest ways to prepare an egg. It requires no added oil, and thoroughly cooking eggs helps reduce the risk of foodborne illness because raw or undercooked eggs can carry harmful bacteria such as Salmonella.
