On Friday 25th September 2026 Delta State particularly Asaba woke up to the shocking death of a Deputy Director in the Ministry of Secondary Education, a SGL 16 Deputy Director, Mr. Adeda following internal injuries sustained from beatings he received from some persons who were initially reported were 'thugs' on the promptings of the Commissioner Mr. Kingsley Ashigbougu . Findings later revealed that there were no things but were identified as Civil servants who worked with the Commissioner and his driver . He was tied hands and feet and beaten to a pulp . He was later rushed to the hospital where he later died from complications from the beatings . Eye witness account said the deceased had an altercation with the Director in the Ministry, who in turn put a call across to the Commissioner who rushed to the scene and the matter degenerated into a verbal exchange between the Commissioner and the deceased . On Friday the NLC Chairman Mr. Oforburuku asked that the Obi Prof Chike Edozien Secretariat along Maryam Babangida way be shut down as workers protested , only for him and his team to have a volte face saying it should be opened since they have met with the Delta State Government and were assured that the Government will see that justice is done by investigating the matter and those found culpable are brought to book.
The State Government also gave assurances that Civil servants are safe to work in their offices.
The State Government has sent a high powered delegation led by the SSG , Dr. Kingsley Emu who paid a visit to the deceased family to condole with them. the family speaking through the deceased brother urged that Justice be done .

The issue now is with so many discondant tones and the Governments spokesman , Commissioner for Rural Roads and Public information saying there are many versions and they need to investigate the matter. Will it be free of bias and prejudice?
Will it not be politicised? .
Will Justice be actually done or will it be swept under the carpet ?
Will the family not be bought over with some tempting offer to keep mum on the issue ?
I put it to the media to thoroughly investigate this matter and hear from the Delta State Government, the Head of service as well as the Ministry and the family of the deceased to get to the bottom of this .

This should be another cover up.
They should not come and feed us lies or half truths.
Many of us are not convinced of these kangaroo panel set by the Delta State government with the supposed union leaders, I find it suspicious.
It is should rather be an Independent Administrative and Judicial panel of enquiry set up by the Attorney General . The police should delve into this without bias but with professionalism.
This should go viral and not be swept under the carpet . If not another will happen and that is how we will continue to lose people who have served their state for years to needless deaths .
The findings of the panel should be made public . An autopsy, a coroner's inquest he conducted.
No political actor especially those with allegiance to the state government should be in that committee.

Whoever is found culpable no matter how highly placed should face the music .
May his soul rest in peace .
