Fame is often seen as a dream, but Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha’s experience shows that it can come with a heavy price. After becoming one of the revelations of the 2026 World Cup, he says he has lost much of the peace and privacy he once enjoyed.

From being filmed in public to constantly being asked for photos and autographs, his life has changed dramatically. Despite receiving offers from brands, Vozinha says he has chosen to stay away from tobacco, alcohol and betting promotions.

Perhaps the most surprising part is his honesty: if given a choice, he says he would choose his quieter life before fame. Sometimes, peace is priceless.
