CBN’s Interest Rate Cut Is Not A Political Gimmick— Adeoye

When you cut interest at the level of the MPR, it does not immediately or promptly translate to lower borrowing cost. If we are expecting lower borrowing cost by Q4 2027, this is the time to cut the policy rate, because certain cost are still in the mix. What has been cut is the MPR, the CRR is still at 45% which is still fairly high and a huge cost that banks currently have.
