This morning, I entered a public bus. Before I got in, I asked the conductor, “Do you have change?” He said yes, so I hopped in.
As we got closer to my destination, I gave the conductor ₦500 and asked for ₦200 change. That was when he suddenly said he didn’t have change.
We started going back and forth over the ₦200 when the mama sitting beside me said, “Ah! Fine boy, leave the ₦200 for him now.”
I looked at the woman and said, “Okay, ma. Give me the ₦200 now.”
The way the mama looked at me, you would think I had just insulted her.
But I wasn’t leaving my ₦200 for the conductor. I made sure I collected my money.
