When a female three-toed sloth enters estrus, she may climb to a high position and produce loud, high-pitched calls that carry through the rainforest. 🌳📢

The strange call acts like a signal to nearby males, allowing them to locate her without her having to travel long distances through the dense canopy.

And if several males arrive, the peaceful-looking animals can actually compete with one another, using slow-moving physical sparring to determine who gets access to the female. 🦥🥊
