Sophia signed the agreement.

One year.

No romance.

No expectations.

When the year ended, they would walk away.

Francis immediately paid her rent and settled her mother's medical bills.

For the first time in years, Sophia could breathe.

But living together was different.

Francis was cold, private, and completely consumed by business.

Sophia didn't complain.

Francis began coming home earlier.

Francis's brother discovered the marriage agreement and showed it to their father.

His father was furious.

“You deceived me.”

Francis didn't deny it.

“I made a mistake.”

“You married her for your inheritance.”

Francis looked toward the floor.

“At first, yes.”

His father stared at him.

“And now?”

Francis paused.

Then he said the words nobody expected.

“Now I love her.”

His father gave him one final choice.

“Then prove it. Choose Sophia without the inheritance.”

Francis went home.

Sophia immediately noticed something was wrong.

“Is the agreement over?”

Francis walked toward her.

“Yes.”

Sophia's heart sank.

“Then… you're leaving?”

“No.”

She looked at him in confusion.

Francis took her hands.

“I don't want a one-year wife anymore.”

Sophia's eyes filled with tears.

“I want you for the rest of my life.”

She shook her head.

“But you don't have to do this.”

“I know.”

“And your inheritance?”

“I'll give it up if I have to.”

Sophia began crying.

Francis wiped away her tears.

“When I met you, I thought I needed a wife to save my inheritance.”

He smiled softly.

“But you became the person I never want to lose.”

Sophia finally smiled.

“So… no more contract?”

“No more contract.”

They married again.

This time, there was no deadline.

No money.

No arrangement.

Just love.

And months later, Francis inherited the family empire.

But by then, the billions meant less to him than the woman standing beside him.

Sophia had entered his life because she needed help.

She stayed because they found something neither of them expected.
