Respectfully no, this seaport will not create 240 million jobs for Nigerians in the 36 states 774 LGA

Nigeria's entire population is estimated at roughly 240 million people. That number includes babies, children, retirees, unemployed adults, workers, business owners, and students. One seaport cannot realistically provide a job for every Nigerian.

The reports about the proposed Gateway Deep Seaport and Blue Marine Special Economic Zone state that the projects are projected to create more than 50,000 direct jobs when fully developed.

As of the information available from the signing ceremony in Paris, the agreement signed was a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Ogun State Government and DP World. The sources describe the investment plans and proposed projects, but they do not specify a construction start date or completion date.

Regarding whether it is a "lie" or "slogan":

Nobody can honestly verify that today.

What can be verified is:

An MoU was signed in Paris.
The project is being promoted as attracting over $7 billion in investment.

A reasonable approach is to judge the project by measurable results, not announcements:

Has financing been secured?
Has construction started?
Are roads, rail, and power connections being built?
How many permanent jobs are created?
How much cargo and export activity actually flows through the port after completion?

Those are objective indicators. Until construction and operations are underway, the job numbers remain projections rather than proven outcomes.

Let the figures speak for themselves when construction begins, operations commence, and the promised jobs and investments actually materialize. Until then, it is reasonable to treat the numbers as projections, not facts.
