Respectfully all credit goes to the writers why Tinubu went to Paris and the seaport deal signed
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu travelled to Paris, France, on 24 September 2026 to witness and endorse the signing of Memoranda of Understanding between the Ogun State Government and DP World, one of the world’s leading ports and logistics operators
Purpose of the Trip
Tinubu’s visit was part of Nigeria’s economic diplomacy to attract large-scale foreign direct investment, showcase the country’s reform agenda, and position Nigeria as a major hub for maritime trade, logistics, manufacturing, and exports
He used the occasion to assure domestic and international investors of regulatory clarity, policy stability, and institutional support to move projects from agreements to implementation

The Seaport Deal
The agreements cover two linked projects
Gateway Deep Seaport at Ogun Waterside — a 4‑km berth with an 18‑metre draft to handle larger international vessels.
Ogun State Blue Marine Special Economic Zone — about 10,000 hectares for manufacturing, processing, and export‑oriented businesses.
Key details:
Initial investment: over $7 billion
Jobs: projected to create 50,000+ direct jobs when fully operational
Benefits:
Reduce congestion at Lagos’ Apapa and Tin Can Island ports
Lower costs and delays for importers/exporters
Strengthen Nigeria’s role in the African Continental Free Trade Area (1.4 billion‑person market)
Enable value‑added processing of raw materials and expand non‑oil exports
Strategic Significance
Tinubu described the projects as “economic diversification made tangible” and a way to integrate port infrastructure with an economic zone to “build an economy”
