Episode 11 — Daniel’s Envelope
Daniel stared at the envelope with his name on it.
“Why would your father leave something for me?” he asked.
Amara's mother looked nervous.
“I don't know. Your father was the one who gave it to me.”
Daniel slowly picked it up.
Before he could open it, Amara touched his arm.
“Whatever is inside, we'll face it together.”
He looked at her and smiled.
“You really aren't going anywhere, are you?”
“Never.”
Daniel leaned down and kissed her forehead.
“Good.”
He opened the envelope.
Inside was an old letter and a small photograph.
Daniel unfolded the letter.
His face changed as he read.
“What does it say?” Amara asked.
He handed it to her.
Amara read aloud:
“Daniel, if this reaches you, your father and I were trying to uncover the truth about the money that disappeared from the family business.”
She looked up.
“Money?”
Daniel nodded.
The letter continued:
“But we discovered someone had been moving the money using another person's identity.”
Amara's mother suddenly covered her mouth.
Daniel noticed.
“Mummy… you know something.”
She looked at them.
“Yes.”
Silence.
“Then tell us,” Amara said gently.
Her mother sighed.
“The person whose identity was being used…”
She looked directly at Amara.
“…was your father.”
Amara froze.
“My father?”
Before anyone could say another word, Daniel's phone rang.
It was Sophia.
He answered.
“Daniel, you need to come here immediately.”
“Why?”
Sophia's voice trembled.
“Because I found the person who was behind it.”
Daniel stood up.
“Who?”
There was a long silence.
Then Sophia whispered:
“Someone you both know.”
