Episode 9 — Why Did Sophia’s Father Die?

Amara stared at her phone.
“Ask Sophia why her father really died.”
Her heart started racing.
“Daniel…”
He looked at her immediately. “What happened?”
She showed him the message.
Daniel’s expression changed.
Before he could speak, Sophia’s phone rang.
She answered.
“Hello?”
Silence.
Then her face went pale.
“My father…”
She slowly lowered the phone.
“He didn't die from a heart attack.”
Amara froze.
“What?”
Sophia swallowed hard.
“That’s what we were told. But a few weeks before he died, he met with your father.”
Amara’s eyes widened.
“My father?”
Sophia nodded.
“They were investigating something together.”
Daniel stepped closer.
“Investigating what?”
Sophia looked at the storage box.
“I don't know. But after my father died, your father told me something strange.”
“What did he say?” Amara asked.
Sophia hesitated.
“He told me…”
Her voice dropped.
“If anything happens to him, I should never trust the Williams family.”
Daniel went completely still.
“That's impossible.”
Sophia looked at him.
“Is it?”
Amara noticed Daniel’s hands tighten.
She gently reached for his hand.
“Hey. Whatever this is, we're facing it together.”
Daniel looked at her and smiled faintly.
“You really know how to calm me down.”
“Of course.”
He leaned closer.
“And how do you plan to calm me down now?”
Amara smiled.
“With this.”
She kissed him softly.
For a moment, everything else disappeared.
When they pulled apart, Daniel whispered,
“I love you.”
Amara smiled.
“I love you too.”
Then Sophia suddenly gasped.
“Guys…”
They turned.
She was staring at the photograph from the box.
“There’s someone in the background.”
Daniel took the photograph.
Behind their fathers stood a woman.
Amara stared at her face.
She knew her.
It was her mother.
And written on the back of the photograph were four words:
“She knows everything.”
