"I DIDN'T LEAVE DEBTS"
- Peter Obi
Enough of the $123M noise. Open the books.
The Anambra Government says Peter Obi left $123.77m in external debt.
Obi says he left over $150m in investments, earning Anambra about $10m yearly — and says he has the bank statements and handover documents to back it.
His argument is simple:
“Let me assume the worst-case scenario — which is false — that there was $123.7 million owed as of the time I left. I left over $150 million that was earning about $10 million.”
He also says the funds being described as loans were actually concessionary multilateral support facilitated by the Federal Government and the World Bank.
According to Obi, Anambra, Ekiti and Bauchi were selected for this support because of their performance in education.
His words:
“It was a decision made by the federal government and the World Bank to give support.”
So here is my question:
WHERE ARE THE BOOKS?
If Obi is wrong, prove him wrong.
Show Nigerians the contract agreements.
Show the bank statements.
Show exactly what was approved, what was drawn and what was outstanding when he handed over in 2014.
Show the handover records.
Show everything.
Because shouting “$123m DEBT!” without giving Nigerians the full financial picture is not enough.
Obi has made his case, presented documents and says he is done trading words over his tenure.
I support that decision.
Personally, this is beginning to look like a cheap political distraction, and I would rather see Obi focus on 2027 and the bigger battle ahead.
The ball is now in the Anambra Government’s court.
NO MORE NOISE. OPEN THE BOOKS.
If Obi is wrong, the documents will expose him.
If the documents support him, then the narrative needs to change.
No tribalism. No propaganda. JUST THE NUMBERS.
Let the books speak. 😂
