My male best friend (Kayode) asked me to be his girlfriend for his brother’s wedding 😳 PART 2

CONTINUATION 👇

“Do you think I’m someone you will marry someday?”

I stared at him.

Then I laughed.

Because surely Kayode was joking.

“Please, Kayode. Don’t start.”

He smiled.

“But what if I’m not joking?”

My smile slowly disappeared because damnnn.

⸻

I looked at him properly.

“Kayode, you better be joking oh.”

“I’m serious.”

“Serious about what?”

“About what I just asked you.”

I shook my head.

“We agreed we were pretending for your brother’s wedding. We said no catching feelings.”

He nodded.

“I remember.”

⸻

“Besides, I have Tobi.”

“And I have Maria.” He said.

“Exactly.” I replied.

He looked at me for a few seconds.

Then he said, “But Tobi and Maria aren’t here.”

I laughed nervously.

“So?”

“So it’s just us.”

That was when I stopped laughing.

⸻

Because Kayode wasn’t smiling anymore.

He was just looking at me.

And suddenly, everything clicked.

He actually meant it.

This wasn’t one of his stupid jokes.

My heart started beating so fast, I could literally hear it.

And the worst part?

I suddenly wanted to kiss him. I really wanted to feel him.

⸻

I don’t even know when I started looking at his lips.

But I did.

Then I quickly looked away.

Abeg.

This was Kayode.

My best friend.

The same person I had complained to about Tobi for years.

The same person who knew all my embarrassing stories.

How did we get here?

⸻

Before I could say anything, the MC suddenly shouted, “See these two! Come and show us what love is!”

Everybody laughed.

Kayode looked at me.

I looked at him.

Then the MC said, “You people are too cute. You must kiss!”

The whole place erupted.

“Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!”

I covered my face especially because his parents thought we were dating.

“Jesus Christ.”

⸻

Then his mum joined them.

“Fisayo, kiss my son oh!”

His dad started laughing.

“After all these years of hiding, you people should at least give us one kiss.”

I looked at Kayode.

He was laughing too.

But then he leaned closer and whispered, “Should we?”

“Kayode…” I called his name…

“Just one.” He said, placing his hands on my jawline while staring at me.

⸻

I don’t know what made me nod.

Maybe it was the way he was looking at me.

Maybe it was because I had already been thinking about it.

Or maybe I was simply tired of pretending that I wasn’t feeling something too.

Kayode slowly moved closer.

I could feel my heart beating harder.

He stopped for a second.

Like he was giving me one last chance to change my mind.

I didn’t.

⸻

His hand gently found my tiny waist.

Then he leaned in.

Our lips collided and it was the best kiss, I never knew Kayode’s lips were this soft. I never wanted that kiss to end, I could swear that I was dripping down already.

For a second, neither of us moved.

Then he kissed me again.

This time, slower.

And somehow, the entire wedding disappeared.

I couldn’t hear the music anymore.

I couldn’t hear the people shouting.

It was just Kayode.

⸻

When we finally pulled apart, I couldn’t even look at him.

I was smiling like an idiot.

Kayode was smiling too.

Then somebody screamed,

“Again!”

Everybody laughed.

His mum shouted, “Leave them alone jor!”

His dad immediately said, “Why? They are doing well!”

I wanted the ground to open.

⸻

Not provided in the screenshots I received.

⸻

Kayode leaned towards me again.

“You okay?”

I nodded. “I’m fine.”

“You’re blushing.”

“Shut up.”

He laughed. “You’re the one that wanted to kiss me.”

I looked at him. “Excuse me?”

“You heard me.”

I hit his chest. “Don’t annoy me.”

He just laughed.

And somehow, that made my heart beat even faster.

⸻

Later that night, I stepped outside to get some air.

The wedding was still going on inside.

The compound was quiet a bit, and the moon was bright.

I heard footsteps behind me.

Kayode.

He came and stood beside me.

For a few seconds, neither of us said anything.

Then I finally asked, “So…”

He looked at me. “So what?”

⸻

“That thing you said while we were dancing.”

“What thing?” He asked.

I stared at him. “Don’t annoy me, Kayode.”

He laughed.

“I’m asking if you meant it.”

He looked away for a second.

Then back at me. “Yes.”

My stomach did that weird thing again because what the hell???

“Ah.”

He smiled. “That’s all you’re going to say?”

I stalled a bit. “What do you want me to say?”

⸻

I laughed.

“Hope you’re not just in your feelings oh.”

He laughed. “Maybe I am.”

“See this one.”

“I’m serious, Fisayo.” He said.

I looked at him. “So you’ve just been waiting until we came to your brother’s wedding to start disturbing my life?”

He smiled. “No. I think I’ve been feeling this for a while.”

I went quiet. “Since when?”

He took a breath. “I don’t know.”

⸻

Then he moved closer.

“Maybe it started when I realised I was always looking for you first.”

I laughed softly.

“That’s because I’m your best friend.”

“Maybe.”

He looked at me.

“Or maybe I just got used to hav
