Saints Cosmas and Damian were brothers from Arabia, celebrated for their remarkable medical skills. As sincere Christians, they embodied charity by offering their medical services free of charge to those in need.

Living in Egaea, Cilicia, they became highly respected members of the local community for both their healing abilities and their generosity.

Their reputation for helping others made them prominent figures, which unfortunately drew the attention of authorities during Emperor Diocletian's severe persecution of Christians.

Around the year 283 AD, under the governance of Lysias, the ruler of Cilicia, Cosmas and Damian were targeted and ultimately martyred for their steadfast faith and dedication to service.

Their enduring legacy is honored with a feast day on September 26th, and they are recognized as the patron saints of pharmacists, reflecting their lifelong commitment to medicine and healing.
