🚨🤡 THIS MAN NEEDS TO BE STUDIED: THE TOMASZ KOSOWSKI TRIAL IS ABSOLUTELY UNHINGED

First, let me say this is an incredibly unfortunate situation. Attorney Steven Cozzi disappeared in March 2023, his body has never been recovered, and prosecutors allege plastic surgeon Dr. Tomasz Kosowski murdered him inside the bathroom of his law office and disposed of his remains.

Kosowski has pleaded NOT GUILTY.

That being said...

This man is an absolute CLOWN in court. 😭

And somehow we are watching a man facing FIRST-DEGREE MURDER AND THE DEATH PENALTY essentially say:

✨ I'll handle this myself. ✨

And there is quite a backstory to how we got here.

Kosowski has gone through multiple attorneys during this case. In 2025, attorneys withdrew for what was described in court reporting as “ethical reasons.”

Then came attorneys Daniel Hernandez and Jane McNeill.

By August 2026, that relationship had apparently gone completely off the rails too.

Hernandez told the court that Kosowski was refusing to sign consent forms for a doctor's evaluation. McNeill confirmed that Kosowski didn't want evidence presented in his defense and didn't want his attorneys speaking for him.

Kosowski basically confirmed it himself:

“It’s true that I don’t want Mr. Hernandez speaking for me and I don’t want Ms. McNeill speaking for me.”

Sir. THEY ARE YOUR LAWYERS. 😭

So Kosowski decided he would represent himself.

IN A DEATH PENALTY CASE.

The judge questioned whether this made any sense.

Kosowski's response?

🗣️ “It makes sense to me.”

BUT WAIT.

Apparently having no lawyer wasn't enough excitement.

Kosowski also decided he DIDN'T WANT A JURY.

The judge asked whether he believed a bench trial was really in his best interest.

Kosowski: “Yes.”

Judge: Why?

Kosowski:

🗣️ “I really have to answer that?”

😭😭😭

The judge ultimately accepted the waiver, meaning Judge Joseph Bulone, not 12 jurors, will determine whether Kosowski is guilty or not guilty. Kosowski also waived a jury for a potential penalty phase.

And THEN THE TRIAL ACTUALLY STARTED.

He declined to give an opening statement.

For much of the state's case, he barely cross-examined anyone.

But when he DOES decide to participate???

Pure chaos.

Prosecutors were discussing the size and capacity of trash bags allegedly recovered from his vehicle.

Kosowski suddenly asks prosecutor Nathan Vonderheide:

🗣️ “How tall are you, Mr. Vonderheide?”

The prosecutor basically responds that he doesn't know what Kosowski is getting at.

The judge asks whether Kosowski actually has a legal issue.

And Kosowski explains that prosecutors are obviously suggesting a body could fit inside the bag, so...

🗣️ “Can you step into the trash bag for us?”

SIRRRRRRRR. 😭😭😭

The judge denied that little courtroom experiment.

And today it somehow got even more uncomfortable. While questioning evidence related to blood spatter, Kosowski reportedly asked whether it was consistent with Cozzi being “chopped into bits and pieces,” while members of Cozzi's family were sitting in the courtroom.

This is the same man who previously told the court he doesn't want mitigation presented on his behalf if he's convicted and the case reaches the death-penalty phase.

Oh, and he also wanted motions his previous attorneys filed on his behalf thrown out because he said they were “riddled with inaccuracies” and weren't what HE wanted.

So, to recap:

Facing first-degree murder.
State seeking death.
Attorneys gone.
Representing himself.
No jury.
No opening statement.
Barely cross-examining witnesses.
Doesn't want mitigation.
Asked the prosecutor to GET INSIDE A TRASH BAG.

And we're only through the first week.

This is obviously an incredibly tragic case because Steven Cozzi's family is sitting through testimony about a man they loved whose body has never even been recovered.

But from a courtroom standpoint?

Tomasz Kosowski needs to be STUDIED because I genuinely have no idea what this man's strategy is supposed to be. 😭

The prosecution still has the burden of proving its case beyond a reasonable doubt, and Kosowski remains presumed innocent unless and until the court finds him guilty.

But this trial has already produced some of the most bizarre self-representation moments I've seen.
