🕯️ THE WATTS FAMILY MURDERS: THE HUSBAND WHO PRETENDED HIS FAMILY WAS MISSING

On August 13, 2018, Shanann Watts returned home to Frederick, Colorado, after a business trip.

She was 34 years old, pregnant, and already a mother to two little girls — Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3.

That morning, all three of them would be killed by someone they trusted.

Their father and husband, Chris Watts.

What made the case even more disturbing was what happened afterward.

Chris didn't immediately confess.

Instead, he went in front of cameras and acted like a worried husband and father. He spoke about how much he wanted his wife and children to come home, while investigators were already beginning to suspect that something was seriously wrong.

Police eventually discovered that Chris had taken Shanann and the girls to an oil-and-gas worksite where he worked.

Shanann was buried there.

The girls' bodies were concealed in oil-storage tanks.

As investigators questioned him, Chris first tried to blame Shanann for the deaths of the children, claiming he had killed her afterward.

But his story eventually changed.

He confessed to killing all three of them.

The investigation also revealed that Chris had been having an affair with a coworker, Nichol Kessinger, and that his marriage was already experiencing serious problems.

On November 6, 2018, Chris Watts pleaded guilty to the murders.

He was sentenced to multiple consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole.

Three innocent lives were lost — including an unborn baby.

And perhaps one of the most haunting parts of the case is this:

While the world was watching Chris Watts ask for his family to come home, he already knew they never could.
