My friend started calling my husband whenever she needs something, and honestly..I’m beginning to feel uncomfortable about it. The funny thing is, she was actually the person who introduced me to my husband.
We attended the same university and graduated together. One day, we went for her uncle’s housewarming, and that was where my husband saw me and asked her about me. According to her, they had known each other for years because he was her uncle’s friend, but she had never been interested in him.
After the party, she introduced us, we exchanged numbers, and the rest is history.
Eight months later, he asked me to marry him, and when I told my friend, she was genuinely happy for me. She even helped with some of the wedding preparations, and everything went well😊.
For a while, I never had any reason to question their friendship. In fact, if my line was off, she would sometimes call my husband just to check if I was okay.
I didn’t see anything wrong with that because they knew each other before I came into the picture. But gradually, I started noticing something.
During her birthday, she called my husband and said, “Anything for the birthday girl? This one you didn’t even call to wish me happy birthday😒.”
My husband later told me about the call and said he just wished her well and ended the conversation. Then my husband lost his dad. My friend saw it on my status, and instead of calling me…she started calling my husband directly.
That evening, we met at the salon, and she told me she had been trying to reach him to commiserate with him.
I told her he was having a difficult time and wasn’t really picking calls. She said, “But he could as well just pick up.” I didn’t say anything.
A few months later, she opened her makeup studio and invited me. She also called my husband separately to tell him to support her in any way he could😂.
Omo! When my husband told me, I just looked at him. I asked him what was going on between them, and he swore there was absolutely nothing. According to him, they were just friends and I had nothing to worry about.
I still honoured her invitation, and she was very happy to see me. But the first thing she said was, “I was actually expecting your husband. I invited him too😳.”
I just smiled and pretended it didn’t bother me.
The truth is, I know she introduced me to my husband, and I genuinely appreciate that. That’s why I’ve been finding it difficult to tell her that I’m no longer comfortable with how often she calls him directly.
I’m not accusing her of anything, but I think she needs to stop and im looking for way to tell her without getting her hurt as well.
