Dear Fathers,
Take a bow — because showing up for your children the way many of you do deserves to be said out loud, not assumed.
When you change the diaper, warm the bottle, run the bath, or walk the floor at 2am with a crying baby on your chest — that's not "helping mom." That's not lending a hand. That's you, being exactly who you're supposed to be. A father. And if that's already you, keep going — it matters more than you know.
It's easy to think the big moments define us as dads — the school fees paid, the graduation photos, the "I provided." And yes, those matter. But if we're honest, it's the small, repeated, unglamorous moments that a child actually feels. They won't remember the price tag on anything. They'll remember the hands that held them. The voice that hummed them to sleep. The presence that stayed, even when it was inconvenient.
Marriage and parenting were never meant to be a ledger — his job, her job, keeping score of who did more. It's a team. Two people, one child, one home, one shared responsibility.
So to the fathers already doing this — thank you. And to any dad still finding his footing: don't wait to be asked. Step in. Show up before she has to say a word.
Because at the end of the day, you're not helping her raise her child.
You're raising your child.
