Zara didn't sell the bottle.
She hid it behind her back. The glass was burning her palm now, like hot pure water nylon.
"Which one be family own?" The man in Prado laughed. "For Ochanja, everything na for sale. Even memory."
He tapped his black POS. "I go give you 50k. You fit close shop for one week."
50k. That was her rent. Her NEPA. Her food.
But the bottle whispered again, weaker: _"Zara... no follow am go."_ Na still her mama voice.
Zara looked up. "Who you be?"
The man didn't answer. He came down from the Prado. His agbada didn't touch ground. Like e dey float small.
"You don't remember me," he said. "But you called me. Age 8. The night your mama die.
You make one wish inside dream and you throway the bottle. Your mama carry am instead of you."
Then everywhere dark. Not normal dark. Market generators still dey make noise but light no dey come out. Only two light remain - Zara bottle, and that man eye.
For inside the dark smoke for the bottle, Zara see am clear now - no be only her mama dey inside. One small pikin dey sit down beside her mama. Small girl with big afro.
Na Zara. When she be 8 years.
The small Zara for inside bottle look up and shout: _"Sister, no give am! Na him make mama no wake up!"_
All the other bottles for Zara table begin shake at once. Like dem dey fear.
The man stretch hand. His hand long pass normal hand.
"Give me. That dream too powerful to stay for street hawker table."
Zara hold the bottle tighter. E don crack small. Smoke dey leak.
