😂 THE LAZY HUSBAND AND THE TALKING WIFE

Chapter 1: The Man Who Hated House Chores

Once upon a time, in a peaceful village called Umuoma, there lived a man named Okeke and his wife, Ngozi.

Okeke was a strong, healthy man. He could carry a heavy bag of cassava, climb a palm tree, and walk from one village to another without complaining.

But there was one thing Okeke could never do...

House chores!

The moment Ngozi mentioned sweeping, washing plates, fetching water, or cooking, Okeke suddenly became tired.

One morning, Ngozi woke up early and started sweeping the compound.

“Okeke!” she called.

From inside the room, Okeke answered sleepily.

“Yes, my wife?”

“Please help me sweep the backyard.”

Okeke immediately started coughing.

“Cough! Cough! My chest!”

Ngozi looked at him suspiciously.

“You were perfectly fine five minutes ago.”

Okeke covered himself with the blanket.

“My sickness came suddenly.”

Ngozi sighed.

“Fine. Rest.”

The moment she walked away, Okeke whispered,

“Thank God. I escaped!”

Unfortunately for him, Ngozi heard him.

She smiled.

“Very interesting.”

Chapter 2: The Talking Wife

Ngozi was not the kind of woman who kept quiet.

She talked while cooking.

She talked while sweeping.

She talked while washing clothes.

She even talked when Okeke was pretending to sleep.

One afternoon, Okeke came home and threw himself onto the chair.

“My dear wife! Bring me water.”

Ngozi continued cooking.

“Your legs are working.”

Okeke frowned.

“But I'm tired.”

Ngozi replied,

“And I am your wife, not your personal servant.”

Okeke became angry.

“Why do you always talk?”

Ngozi smiled.

“Because my mouth is still working. When my mouth stops working, you will know.”

Okeke shook his head.

“This woman talks too much.”

Ngozi heard him.

“And your laziness talks even louder!”

The neighbors outside burst into laughter.

Chapter 3: The Great Escape

The next morning, Ngozi decided to test her husband.

She placed a broom beside him.

“Okeke, please sweep the compound.”

Okeke looked at the broom as if it were a dangerous animal.

“My back hurts.”

“Since when?”

“Since last night.”

“Your back was fine when you danced at your friend's party yesterday.”

Okeke quickly changed the subject.

“Have you seen my shoe?”

Ngozi pointed at his feet.

“You are wearing them.”

Okeke looked down.

“Oh!”

Ngozi laughed.

“You are becoming confused because of laziness.”

Okeke grabbed his walking stick.

“I am going to visit my friend.”

Ngozi asked, “Why?”

“I need peace.”

Ngozi smiled.

“Go. But when you return, the compound will still be here.”

Chapter 4: The Village Council

Okeke went to his friend Chukwudi's house.

“My wife talks too much,” he complained.

Chukwudi laughed.

“What did she do?”

“She asked me to sweep!”

Chukwudi stared at him.

“That is the problem?”

“She also asked me to wash plates.”

Chukwudi shook his head.

“My brother, you are in serious trouble.”

Just then, their friend Emeka arrived.

“What are you two discussing?”

Okeke explained everything.

Emeka laughed loudly.

“You are complaining because your wife wants you to help around the house?”

Okeke folded his arms.

“A man should rest.”

Emeka replied,

“Rest from what? You have been resting since morning!”

The three men laughed.

But Okeke still refused to accept responsibility.

Chapter 5: Ngozi's Plan

That evening, Ngozi decided she had had enough.

She told Okeke,

“My husband, from tomorrow, I will stop doing everything for you.”

Okeke laughed.

“Do whatever you want.”

Ngozi nodded.

“Very well.”

The next morning, Okeke woke up.

“Ngozi! Where is my breakfast?”

Silence.

“Ngozi?”

Nothing.

He entered the kitchen.

There was no food.

He checked the cupboard.

Empty.

He shouted,

“Where is my food?”

Ngozi calmly replied,

“The food is on vacation.”

“What?”

“You said you wanted rest. The food also wants rest.”

Okeke became angry.

“I am hungry!”

Ngozi smiled.

“So is the cooking pot.”

Okeke stormed outside.

He found his clothes unwashed.

His favorite shirt was still dirty.

His shoes were dusty.

His water container was empty.

He looked around.

“Ngozi!”

She answered,

“Yes, my dear?”

“What is happening?”

“I am resting.”

Chapter 6: Okeke Learns a Lesson

For the first time, Okeke realized how much work Ngozi did every day.

He picked up the broom.

He swept the compound.

He fetched water.

He washed the plates.

Then he entered the kitchen and tried to cook.

Unfortunately, the soup was terrible.

He tasted it and nearly cried.

“Ngozi!”

“Yes?”

“How do you make food taste this good?”

Ngozi laughed.

“Practice.”

Okeke nodded.

“I understand now.”

That evening, he sat beside his wife.

“My dear, I am sorry.”

Ngozi looked at him.

“For what?”

“For thinking housework is only your responsibility.”

Ngozi smiled.

“So you finally understand?”

“Yes.”

“And will you help me from now on?”

Okeke nodded.

“Yes.”

Ngozi smiled.

“Good.”

Then she added,
“Now go and wash the plates.”
