As you start your day, genuine salvation gradually changes what you love. The believer begins to love God's Word, God's presence, righteousness, and fellowship with other believers, while developing hatred for the sinful ways that once controlled him. David declared, “Therefore I hate every false way” (Psalm 119:104). This does not mean Christians become perfect overnight. Rather, sanctification is a continuing work of God's grace. Jesus said, “If you love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15). Your obedience is therefore an expression of your love for Christ. Examine your heart today. What do you enjoy when nobody is watching? What occupies your thoughts and desires? True faith produces a transformed life (James 2:17). May your greatest desire be to know Christ, obey His Word, and become more like Him each day.
