HEALING IS YOURS (1)

Physical healing is God’s will in redemption. Jesus’ sacrifice was for sin and sickness too. We can enjoy physical healing in Christ Jesus.

In the books of the Old Testament, you will consistently see several promises of healing.

The very first time we see healing, it was an unbeliever that was healed.

Genesis 20:17 So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children.

There was sickness here. Abraham prayed and God healed.
These were people who did not have a right standing with God.

The next time we see healing, (in a massive way is Numbers 21); The children of Israel were bitten by snakes.

Numbers 21:7 Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.

Observe that none of them was made to fulfill or obey any commandment. What we have is a sacrifice, a substitute.

God from Abel had always used a substitute to bless man.
He that looks on the substitute will live. That was symbolic of Jesus' sacrifice.

John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so should the Son of man be lifted up: They disobeyed, but what blessed them is the substitute.

God announced himself again in Exodus 15.
Exodus 15:26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.

That is a self-declaration. The rendition here can be seen as someone who keeps sickness away from you.

Same in Exodus 23.
Exodus 23:25 And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.

We will see a whole lot of individual healings.
In 1st Kings 17:17-24; the widow’s son was healed. In 2nd Kings 4:18-37; the Shunammite’s son was raised from the dead.

This was all under the ministry of Elijah and Elisha.

2nd Kings 5:1; Naaman was healed of leprosy. In Isaiah 38 we see the issue of Hezekiah’s sickness and recovery.

So, it is not strange to say that God heals the sick.

CONFESSION:
God heals the sick. It is not strange for God to heal me, He keeps sickness away from me.
