The Cardiff Summit Plus Trump’s Ireland Remarks: The Possible Break-Up of The United Kingdom And Implications For The Biafra Agitation in Nigeria.

Leaders of SNP (John Swinney), Plaid Cymru (Rhun ap Iorwerth) and Sinn Féin (Vice President Michelle O'Neill and President Mary Lou McDonald) met in Cardiff on Monday. They met in their capacity as party leaders and signed a memorandum of understanding. They said Westminster’s time is coming to an end, that their nations have a right to self-determination, and that the UK government should prepare for constitutional change- political demand for referendums. They called on the UK government to "prepare, plan and facilitate constitutional change in Wales, Scotland and the north of Ireland" and put pressure on Downing Street to hold referendums on independence of these nations.

It is a political pact to coordinate their independence/self-determination messaging and push Westminster for future referendums. This new development may have implications for the Biafra agitation in Nigeria.

Cardiff plus Trump’s Ireland remarks give agitators a fresh comparison: elected nationalists sitting together, talking about self-determination, and getting global coverage. Diaspora networks in the UK, Ireland and the US will circulate the photos and the “Westminster’s time is coming to an end” line. That can raise morale and keep the referendum slogan in circulation.

Some Biafra-aligned voices are already drawing that line. A group calling itself Concerned Igbo Ministers pointed to the Cardiff talks and asked Nigeria and the UK to release Nnamdi Kanu and hear a referendum demand. That is the implication in practice.
