Supreme Court Blocks Trump’s New Mail Ballot Requirements for Midterms

The Supreme Court on Monday prevented the Trump administration from enforcing new mail-ballot requirements ahead of the midterm elections, avoiding what state and local election officials said could have caused major disruptions.

In a brief, one-paragraph, unsigned order, the justices said the U.S. Postal Service could not impose rules that would have required states to rapidly redesign ballot envelopes, provide voter lists to the federal government, and obtain approval from postal officials before ballots could be sent to voters.
