⚖️ Anambra mother arrested for alleged hot knife assault on daughter

Anambra State Police have arrested Ogechi Ofoma, 32, over the alleged severe physical abuse of her seven-year-old daughter, Oluebube Ofoma, in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area.

The child was rescued on Sunday, 13 September 2026, after community security personnel from Ibollo Community, Awada-Obosi, and concerned residents intervened. Police spokesman SP Tochukwu Ikenga said preliminary findings indicate the girl sustained injuries allegedly inflicted with a hot knife. Ofoma was arrested immediately and an investigation commenced.

The incident follows the recent arrest of another Anambra woman, Anulika Onyeanusia, who was charged with allegedly abusing her eight-year-old daughter and circulating the child's pornographic video. Ikenga said the current investigation will be "thorough, professional, and uncompromising," with the child's welfare remaining paramount.
