President Bola Tinubu has used the 2026 BRICS Summit in New Delhi to make a strong case for a more representative and equitable global order, urging reforms to the UN Security Council and international financial institutions to reflect today’s economic and demographic realities.
Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu called for BRICS cooperation to move beyond dialogue to measurable outcomes, positioning Nigeria as a gateway to Africa’s growing market under AfCFTA. He highlighted opportunities in trade, energy, agriculture, infrastructure, healthcare, manufacturing, digital technology, AI and critical minerals, with emphasis on investment, technology transfer, local value addition and job creation.
As Nigeria pursues economic resilience under the Renewed Hope Agenda, Tinubu stressed that Africa must move from the margins of global development to the forefront of growth and innovation.
