A suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP t£rr0r!st has surrendered to troops of Operation Hadin Kai in Borno State with an AK-47 rifle and other items, while six suspected members of a k!dn@pp!ng syndicate were arrested in separate operations in Adamawa State.
The military said the fighter surrendered on 13 September at Borgozo in Benisheikh, Kaga Local Government Area, after reportedly escaping from a terrorist enclave and choosing to abandon the group. Troops recovered an AK-47 rifle, 14 rounds of ammunition, four magazines, an IED, a magazine pouch and a bicycle.
He is currently in military custody for further investigation and profiling, according to the Theatre Command of Operation Hadin Kai.
In Adamawa, troops working with local hunters raided a suspected kidnapping hideout around Soktu Hill in Song Local Government Area following credible intelligence. Three suspects were first arrested and one Dane gun recovered. Follow-up operations led to the arrest of three more suspects.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the syndicate had been operating around the Soktu, Dumne and Maigero areas of Song LGA. The suspects allegedly admitted involvement in several abductions for ransom and other violent crimes. They remain in custody as investigations continue.
